Driver's EDge Online Driver's Education Course 


The program consists of at least 30 hours of instruction and includes components about alcohol safety, drug abuse awareness, aggressive drivning, distracted driving, pedestrian & bicycle safety, handicapped parking, fuel efficient driving practices, motorcycle awareness and organ & tissue donation awareness as required by law. 

-You must be at least 15 years and 6 months old to take the online driver education course. All individuals who elect to take the classroom component of the driver's education course online must take the online course through a DMV licensed driver training school. Home schooled students are exempt from this requirement. 
-Payment of $125. 00 required prior to recieiving Welcome E-mail with Online Course access details. Driver's EDge is a DMV Licnesed Driver Training School.

Testing Procedures

-You must be in person to take the final Online Driver's Education Course Test.  
Testing Hours: by appointment only.
-Email your Driver's EDge Instructor to schedule your final test appointment. 
Testing Location: Gather, Midlothian VA 

On your scheduled Testing Day, you MUST bring the following to the test site:
-Photo identification: (DMV issued identification card, school issued identification card, valid passport or military identification) 
-Proof of completion of the online driver education course.
-A completed Parental Consent for Online Driver Education Examination (DTS62), if you are under age 18.

-If you reside in Planning District 8 (Counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudon & Prince William and cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Manassas and Manassas Park)- You must provided proof of completion of the additional 90-minute parent/teen course, if you are under age 18.

*New as of July 1, 2022: The Parent/Student 90-minute online course will be required for student's living outside of *Planning District 8 and may be completed in-person or online. The participation of the student's parent or guardian in the Parent/Student Course is encouraged, but not required. 

Driver's EDge will offer this course in the near future (we are waiting for VDOE and the DMV to approve this new course for us to use). Until then, the DMV has collaborated with the Virginia Association of Driver Education and Traffic Safety (VADETS) to allow Driver's EDge & other online driver training schools that provide the classroom component of driver education online to use the VADETS Parent/Student Course. Parent/Guardian, you will be charged a $14.00 fee for this course (you can not pay Driver's EDge, you have to pay VADETS). Until we can offer this course through our online curriculum provider, you are required to complete this course in addition to the Driver's EDge Online Driver's Ed Course ($125 per above). You will have to show proof of completing the Parent/Student online course, on or before taking the online driver's ed final exam & to complete behind the wheel.
